Default Our Garden (The Ark in Rupert, Summer 2011)

TheThing and I have a bit of a feral garden this year, as I asked him to leave certain patches of "weeds" up, such as all the wild chamomile and motherwort that just showed up, as if begging to be used.
We're behind, but it's coming. This weekend is major workfest here at the Ark.

A few little clips:

Arugula nestled beside plain leaf lettuce:

My beautiful borage, I grew from see d and just today finished tincturing the flowers:

My seed-grown milk thistle is going gangbusters, it's much bigger than this now and these pics are only a few days old:

Calendula not quite open but soon:

Magnificent Motherwort:

In addition, I have a promising crop of marshmallow, teasel, hyssop, yarrow, and a hopeful batch of monarda...the usual culinary herbs in various stages of "doing-okayness" and we plan to get working on them as well.

Additionally I have burdock, stinging nettle, shepherd's purse, dandelion, hawthorn, raspberry and strawberry leaf, self heal, chickweed, two kinds of plantain and loooads of ground ivy on the property, all of which I'm using.
Oh - and roses.

We'll get some veggie garden pics up over the weekend.

Why thank you, oonagh - the calendula opened today and I blush to admit, I was in tears at the sight of it. Growing from seed is really emotional for me, when they flourish I am sooo grateful, and calendula is so massively helpful for so many things.

Those are most definitely some beautiful examples of flora I have ever seen. They look like they are living in the pictures themselves.

Fera, have you ever thought of writing a book just based around your garden using your own photos? A kind of mixture of gardening and green witchery tips?

hhmm, Cassie that wold be fun! Do you think there's a market for such a thing?

and darkbardraven - thank you. I am encouraged to talk to them even more, and collect some more photos. I love each and everyone of my plants dearly, and they know it.
