Default ESF Community Sacred Strand?

Talking in the Prayer Beads thread, I thought I would gauge interest as to the creation of an ESF Community Sacred Strand.

Happy to facilitate - it is part of what I do in my workshops, so whilst doing it all online might pose some challenges, it would be an interesting exercise.

Firstly - before I bore everyone to death about it - I just wanted to see if enough people would be interested.

So to explain a little futher (encouraged by at least one taker, lol!)

We would take the Mission Statement and Vision Statement and Values of ESF - and from there, workshop an agreed upon number of common focus statements - these are the shared statements that we would all have on our Sacred Strand set.

That is the community bit.

Because we are also individuals, and individuals create community, we then have our own statements that we work in.

For a fuller explaination = see my post about the Pagan Hearth Community Sacred Strand - here:

http://www.earthsongforums.com/forum...778#post272778

If we have a number of us, it might be nice if we all collect the same number of beads as there are people working on the Sacred Strand, and then we can each mail a bead to each person - that way we can truly incorporate the sense of community - if everyone is into that.

I tend to think those little things really go a long way to creating an energetic link - particularly with a Community Sacred Strand, which is one of the reasons I always ask people to contribute to the Treasure Chest, when I do a workshop in RL.

Here's the Mission Statement (which I have also just *bumped*)

I was at that time developing my Tarot deck but unsure of what I wanted to represent or how to portray the ideas I had: “Dream of the Earth” sounded like a perfect name, initially. I was toying with EarthDream for some time when the name EarthSong came – quite unbidden – to me. So, originally, EarthSong is the name of my personal tarot, which features the four seasons as suits, and offers a meditation on interconnectedness, between all humans, all species, and within the sacred sphere of the elements.

But then, one day, I decided I wanted a forum, too.

The concept behind the EarthSong forum is simple; the planet is our home and our responsibility, and stewardship/sustainability has to be THE primary focus of the coming times. Irrespective of our personal beliefs, ethnicity, politics or preference in dog breeds (yes there’s a lot of animal lovers at ESF) we humans are all united in one common issue; our material home and it’s various imminent crises. We all share one heart, we all share the same basic needs, we all love our children, fear annihilation, and possess in varying degrees, a desire to learn, grow and make things better.
So, ESF celebrates diversity, invites controversy, welcomes humour and lunacy in healthy doses, and aims at bringing people together with an eye to discussion, personal growth and learning, and a lot of fun. Although we feature forums on topics like nature, human health, environmental issues and Interspecies communication, there are also multiple forums that focus on a wide range of spiritual and philosophical issues. The point is not to discuss the material alone, but to blend and balance both material and spiritual, to explore all aspects of what it means to be human and seeking, on a planet that seems to be careening toward destruction, mostly of our own making.

It’s the philosophy of both Administrators and the moderating team that humour plays a huge role in keeping us all sane and humble and that many in the New Age/Occult world are a teensy bit ego inflated and self important…we hope ESF provides a place to enjoy the common ground experience of being human – that means anger and pain, fear and seeking, but also love, friendship, searching, learning and sharing the journey with one another.
In this blog I will do what I do naturally – share my ponderings, challenges, personal joys and sorrows, and address issues of (hopeful) interest to other Seekers and members of the forums.
With a LOT of dog stories, recipes, and rants thrown in for good measure. I am so far completely delighted to see friends from other spirituality forums, from the dog world (I’m a canine healthcare specialist) and from forums very different from this one all gathered in one spot and being interactive. In my next entry, I’ll share a bit about myself, my past, path and radiantly exciting future.
It’s a bit of a cliche, I know, but I mean it from my heart when I say – love to you all. May your paths be blessed in every way, and may you always have love nearby to lighten the load.

Ok..

I have put 40 days on the poll, so for all that come on board between now and it finishing, my suggestion would be to save the Mission statement to a document (or print it out, whichever floats your boat <g>) and then highlight the bits in it that are seminal points from your perspective in terms of what will go towards creating the shared Focus Bead Statements.

Then in 40 days, when everyone will have had a chance to check in and decide upon their interest or not, we can start :-)

Exciting - for me at least, to see the interest. I think you will be both surprised and delighted at this humble and gentle little activity - I know I always am.
