I don't see the issue with it, to be honest. Take my mother for example; she's a beautiful, smart, loving woman that could be with anyone she wanted. However, because she dove into a relationship right after her divorce, and that particular relationship ended about 6 months ago or longer, she doesn't want a ltr. She doesn't even care to have a lasting friendship with any of the men she meets. She mature, single, and lonely. She's perfectly capable of separating emotions from sex, and tends to do so. What's wrong with her choosing a "playmate" for his/her looks rather than their brains/personality? I don't see anything bad about that, and I don't think it should be different from men.

I certainly don't think there's anything wrong with casual sex if both parties are on the same page - but that wasn't the point of the thread. I was bemused by how men can find someone physically stimulating even if she embodies values he finds repugnant. Like TheThing creaming over Ann Coulter (let's pretend Ann Coulter is pretty). Or me having fantasies about Michael Vick.

I can't understand finding a man attractive if he abuses animals or belongs to the tea Party - but some - many? men seem to have an Override button if the physical is appealing enough - and that, not the right to have casual sex, was the point I was asking about.

I'm all for whatever casual encounters people like to get up to, and am definitely open to the option. However, like Fera, there are specific traits I find utterly repugnant. No matter how physically attractive a person is, if they open their mouths and stupidity falls out, that's an instant turn off. If they are cruel, or dumb, or close minded, it will literally distort how I perceive their features into something uglier than is perhaps true.

I couldn't be with someone wilfully ignorant, not even for a one night stand. The idea makes my skin crawl, haha. I've been in the situation where I lusted after someone, and then they ended up saying (and meaning) something remarkably sexist, racist or just plain uneducated, and I'm like "Nope, NOPE! I am outta here!"

Probably depends on the man I guess. I couldn't go after a woman that holds views or does things I find offensive. Just, no. But perhaps those things may not necessarily define her. Maybe, I can -change- her

Seriously though, maybe it's that I'm far too content to 'go there' with the Kim Kardasians, Anne Coulters, whomever. There has to be a sort of a reason there, since the world is filled with lots of wonderful sexy women who are much more closely aligned to one's beliefs/standards etc.

I certainly would lose any sexual attraction to, say, a woman who engaged in crush fetishism. I think there are MORE than enough women who have the same ability to override that men do, but for different reasons. If it isn't for sexual satisfaction, it's for financial stability, social status, etc. Humans are humans.

Yeah, I think it's normal to feel turned off a person whom you find out is somehow disgusting like that, in a real-life dating scenario - what I was really wondering is, the mechanism by which men switch it off when it comes to pornography or just visual titllation. Example: You find the class system disgusting, you find whiney spoiled princesses disgusted, but you're obsessed with Kim Kardashian? I never really thought Christian bale was so hot, but after his videos flipping out on his crew guy, he'd be about as appealling to me to look at as a doorknob.

Is this a woman thing? On the series I just watched, House, there's a very good looking Australian doctor, who was a seminary student before med school - a young guy and I'm no cougar! but he was very cute - the accent, the blond locks etc. Then he starts to behave like a cretin - womanizing, back stabbing - and I cannot see him as such a cute person anymore at all. Not even physically. I may be an unusual case, but how a person is - even a character in a movie - greatly affects how appealling I am capable of thinking they are physically.

YOu do have a beautiful wife and best friend, so I can't imagine you're sitting around with wank mags all the time anyway.
If you ARE, please don't tell me, lol. For so many reasons.

she -is- hideous. The attempts like the cover of time etc. just doesn't do it.

Just don't tell me Cameron Diaz is a right wing nut job. Please. Don't ruin it for me.

I don't think she is, but I think she's kind of homely too.
In a cute way, I hasten to add.
