Default FEHU Illustrated

I've been working for the last three years VERY intensely on sacred mathematics, geometry, number theory, etc, when the other day I realized I needed a break from the left brain -- so I decided to go through and illustrate the 24 Elder Futhark runes according to my own perspective. It was a great exercises for me and I'm pleased with how the first rune turned out, so I'm sharing it here ... I will likely do one every week until I have all 24 complete. I was also thinking of turning it into an Elder Futhark coloring book as my style learns naturally in that direction ... what are you thoughts/impressions? Do you resonate with the symbolism? How does it compare to your understanding? Many thanks.

Leben,

That's amazing! I must encourage you to finish all of the Elder Futhark, and turn them into a deck similar to tarot. You did very well with Fehu, and I'm excited to see what's next!

Seek the mysteries,

Thank you, kaosxmage! I will certainly keep at it, and I think the final images will lend themselves well to a deck format

nice.

also the art style seems like it was from a book illustration from the 1920's-40's.

very nice.

Thank you, Lightdragon -- I take that as a big compliment. I think my favorite illustrator of all time is John R. Neill, who drew for the Baum's OZ series of books, though if I were even half as good as him I would feel very accomplished

No rune expert, by any means, but for what it worth, Leban, I really like what you have created in that image - and I would have to agree with what the others say above.

I drew the picture in one, day-long sitting. When I have a vision for something, usually everything else goes on hold and Art becomes the priority. Luckily my life has been so arranged to allow that. I'm really no rune expert, just a very enthusiastic esoteric symbologist

For some reason, Leban, this amuses me - you're a talented man, of many skills, in terms of the very little I know of you - so this seems like a bit of an understatement ;-)

aww shucks, well thank you. It's true, I'm a talented man of many skills. I've run the gamut of life experience and worked to separate the fine from the coarse in everything that I do. Much of what I consider my inner practice was largely influenced by my involvement with Okinawan karate (I studied for three years while serving in the US Army as an MP). The core of the teaching was simple practicality, done right the first time, with feeling and attention. I was lucky to be involved with traditional dojo tied to the Grandmaster in Japan, so the transmission was authentic, and it's really the only skill I've worked to master in this life ... the rest has just been interesting side effects!

For the record, I'm including the rune poems for Fehu in this thread:

Old Norwegian:
Wealth is a source of discord amongst kin;
the wolf lives in the forest.

Old Icelandic:
Wealth is a source of discord amongst kin
and fire of the sea
and path of the serpent.

Anglo-Saxon:
Wealth is a comfort to all;
yet must everyone bestow it freely,
if they wish to gain honour in the sight of the Lord.
