So I had bought a new Tarot deck..The Wild Wood Tarot.. I am cleansing then charging them.
I wanted to know how others preform this ritual. I am using the Sacred Avalonian ritual for purification, with some reiki and crystals thrown in. I will also sleep with them. I haven't decide if I will let them charge as the moon waxes or not. What do you do to cleanse and charge your Tarot decks, or other magical items?

If the deck is brand new outta the box, I don't usually cleanse them, because they've never been used. I'll just sleep with them under my pillow for a night (preferably at the full moon) to charge them.
If they're used, I'll leave them on the altar overnight on a new moon to clear out any old energies hanging around. Then I use the period between new moon and full to get to know them, and then under the pillow at the full moon to charge them so I can start using them "for real." |

I hate when that happens, some of my long replies, and most of you know I am not one to write long ones...I accidentally hit the wrong key and they are lost.

Had to look up Wild Wood Tarot, wow! Those look really wonderful, and I do have a very specific taste when it comes to tarot decks. Very few will do

I never do that. The first time I handle it and shuffle it for a good 5 minutes, I say out loud: " I want the truth, all the truth and nothing but the truth". I put the deck under my pillow and bring it with me. Now that I have a big amethyst, I keep my favorite decks with it.
And since I'm from a cartomancy background where readers let the querents touch and shuffle their decks, I also let people shuffle my cards. I really think it's an urban legend in tarot's books to make people think that tarot is more special than playing cards or other oracles cards like the Petit Lenormand when it's not. The only moments I don't let people touch my cards is if they have dirty hands or if they shuffle so badly that I'm worried they might damage the deck. Or if I see that they're trying to take control of the deck and make the cards say what they want. I take the deck back and while I shuffle I remind it that I want nothing but the truth out of it. Personally I think it's rather people that need cleansing, not decks. It's important to be calm, objective and grounded before doing readings. Those that let their emotions rule them per example will see their worse fears or unrealistic events (too good to be true) in their readings. I'm naturally calm, objective and grounded so I don't get those issues.

^I like that.... I did let them sit on my Solstice Altar with a clear crystal quartz. Its near my bed, I shuffled them and they were good to go. I store them wrapped with a clear crystal, as my WR deck is. I have always done that.
