Default Gray Magic

Have anyone ever use gray magic before? Between black magic and white magic, gray magic is neutral.

Under the old system I was taught gray magic is magic that served the self though might be of benefit to others doing so.

Consider you cast a spell to get ride of an abusive boss. So you help the company and your co-workers but the truth of the spell is your the next one in line for the promotion so its really your benefit. So it might appear to aid them but the ultimate purpose is for the caster.

White would be you do it and there is no reward for you from doing so. Black would be doing it intentionally for your own goals and rewards and leaving no doubt that you did it for yourself. Sort of upward mobility by destroying the person above you.

But I suppose that is why most of us no longer use white, black or gray as applied to magical but occasionally for intent.

most important part of magic is the mind. candles are commonly used in a lot of spells as it is a good tool to focus your will/mind.

I don't think they are the most important aspect or part of magic but I do think they are the easiest to include without a lot of questions asked. Easy to use for color derived workings, aromatic derived workings, even workings involving sigils, glyphs, etc that can be easily engraved on them. Fairly useful for sympathetic and symbolic usage. Especially useful for visualizations and meditation type activities. Very unobtrusive in nearly any situation.
